Latex Care

Latex is gorgeous, I’ve never met someone that didn’t look good in it. Treat it well and it’ll last you years, but it can be a pain to store and care for. If you don’t know what you’re doing that beautiful, expensive item of clothing might not last you as long as it should. I’ve got latex clothes over 10 years old that I still wear and look great in. So today I’m going to share with you my tips for caring for your clothes and toys.

After a long night out (or in) you’ll finally peel it away from your body and this is when it needs to be washed. The sweat on your body isn’t good for it if it’s just left to sit, so get the shower on and with warm water and some soap give it a good wash and make sure not to miss any spots.
Next up, I give it a quick wipe with a clean, dry towel to get as much of the water off as I can before it is hung up somewhere to drip dry. Stick that or a new towel underneath or there will be puddles. if the outside is dry it’s time to turn it inside out to make sure the other side is dried properly too. This might take a while so so go and relax for a bit.
Now it’s dry and almost ready to go into storage. But first give it a rub down the outside with some latex polish, it helps to keep it healthy, it’s basically the equivalent of leather food on your boots. My absolute favourite for this is RadicalShine Blue polish. It smells great and makes my latex look better than anything else I’ve ever used. Remember to use a lint free cloth, and there are plenty out there specifically designed for latex use. On the inside I use unscented talcum powder, make sure it’s well covered as this will make sure the latex doesn’t stick to itself while being stored.
Next they are hung on good sturdy hangers and have a white rubbish bag placed over them. Rip a small hole in the bottom of the bag to get the hook of the hanger through and they are ready to go into the wardrobe. Most of my latex is bright colours and I don’t want to risk any colour transfer and this system has worked the best for me.
I actually enjoy cleaning my latex so it may surprise you but I don’t have a submissive do it for me. It’s also something I tend to do every few months if I can, even if it hasn’t been worn in a while. And of course always store it out of direct sunlight.
