Last week there was a huge leak on Only Fans. And as any sensible company would do it stayed tight lipped and didn’t even acknowledge it… Wait, what? No, really, this was their way of dealing with all of this.
I found out about the leak through the trending bar on Twitter, and the link wasn’t just the hard work of the creators but personal information. It is always a risk when you work online, but the way Only Fans has so far handled the situation has been pretty piss poor. Big websites often come under attack, things get leaked but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a site bury their head in the sand and pretend it never happened.
When you upload your work to anywhere that requires a lot of personal details you hope that they will be safe, we’ve all had to do this at some point, be it your bank, your place of work or even sites you subscribe to. But you also like to think they would contact you if your information had been stolen, because we all deserve a warning. And you need it if there is any risk to your safety and people in the adult industry are often more at risk than other kinds of content creator, although women in games media are fairly high up there.
There is only so much you can do until the risk is in the hands of someone else.
If you have been affected by the leak I would love to hear from you and follow this post up in the future.
