Buying the Right Dildo for You

I’ve brought a lot of dildos over the years, and in the last few years I’ve actually brought good quality ones that I will keep and use over and over again for years. Some of my collection I love and one or two not so much. So how do you buy the right dildo for you? Well I have some tips that might help.

Firmness

There’s a big range in firmness from super soft silicone to the hardness of glass and metal. While I do have toys that are firm that I really enjoy my first go to is always for the softer side. It’s why silicone will always reign supreme with me. If you aren’t sure then I would go for a medium firmness silicone. It’s not going to be too soft for you nor will it be too hard and you can work out from there which way you would rather lean with a future toy.

Size

I’ve had a case of my eyes being bigger than my holes and I even have one toy I still haven’t managed to fit (yet) or ones that have taken a lot of work to get to get comfortable with it. But thankfully I’ve had smaller toys that have helped me work up. Look at the size of the toy, if you’re buying it from Etsy and they don’t have the size do not be afraid to ask the maker. Check it out with a tape measure and know what you’re capable of. And remember a soft toy will have more squish and be more forgiving than a harder toy. Of course buying one from a store you can have a good look and take into consideration what you are currently using be it a toy or your hand to find the best fit to what suits your needs.

Texture

There is a huge variation out there when it comes to texture, from smooth to bumps and curves everywhere. I have always been very drawn to highly textured toys. But they can be a little intense for some. But that intensity is what I personally crave. Textures of dildos could be an entire post on its own and it’s something I will get into at some point. But to keep this brief think about what appeals to you. If you again are not sure I would say go for something softer with a regular texture like a beaded dildo rather than something with a more erratic pattern.

Curves

If you are interested in G or A spot stimulation then you are probably going to want a curve that is going to hit the right spot over something straighter. There are plenty of toys out there that market themselves as A or G spot toys (more G than A as we never talk about how awesome the A spot is).

Obviously always buy a body safe toy over something cheap that could cause you anything from an allergic reaction to physical injury (I once got burnt by a jelly butt plug) or a UTI. This is far from fool proof, I once brought a toy I thought would be perfect but was a huge disappointment. But that was just bad luck and on paper was perfect. I really hope this helps you find a toy you love and want to use over and over again.
